Umpires

Oxford Little League adopts the volunteerism principles established by Little League heavily relying on volunteers to officiate home games.  It is expected that every manager spend time getting trained and performing duties of an Umpire for Oxford games.  Volunteering to be an umpire is a great way to get involved and have fun with the kids without a huge time commitment.  Oxford LL provides all of the equipment, an official umpire's shirt, and free training.  Prospective volunteers should register as a volunteer on registration site (Jevin) and sign up using the link below.  Oxford Little League also recognizes the value of hiring trained and certified umpires for Juniors and up in both baseball, softball, and for
tournaments.
  • The Home team manager is RESPONSIBLE for contacting the scheduled umpire (team manager) for their game, a minimum 24 hours before the scheduled game to confirm coverage.
  • If you are the scheduled umpire crew of a game, and can't make the game, you will need to find coverage. Do not leave this up to the Home Team manager of the game you are to umpire right before his game.
  • Any rain out games or reschedules, the original umpire stays with that game.

Baseball and Softball are managed slightly differently.   is the Umpire in Chief and manages baseball umpires.  For softball, The VP of Softball is the Umpire in Chief, but each manager is ultimately responsible for finding an umpire for their home game.  Below is a tool for collecting information and linking umpires with managers:
